Magical users from different backgrounds are pulling together to bring relief to victims of the recent hurricanes. A few days after Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area, Reverend Starr Ravenhawk took to Magick Lab Academy to announce that Witches Giving Back will add hurricane relief to efforts like NO KIDS GO HUNGRY NY, which gets donations from the proceeds of the NYC Witches Halloween Masquerade Ball on Oct. 31st. After further destruction was wrought on Puerto Rico and Florida the action took on a life of it’s own.
Starr made the initial announcement during an appearance on Magick Lab’s radio show. Before the Magick Lab launched into its topic for the evening, the magic of “Game of Thrones,” Starr told the hosts she almost drove to the flooded area herself in her minivan, which she’d done in similar situations.
“Many of our Temple, Covens, Groups, Solitaries etc has given to many a fund over the years and no one knows it was us giving back,” Starr wrote to her Facebook page when she first thought of the idea. “Not patting ourselves on the back, but simply saying we are here for each other in time of need.
“My heart goes out to all those in the path of Hurricane Harvey and as I sit here, I do not like that feeling of helplessness, I feel the need for us to help if we can. Whether by deeds, actions or money. I ask myself, what can I do? Then, what can WE do, because WE are many STRONG.
“When we needed help in NY after Hurricane Sandy, many from around the country helped so with that in mind let’s see what we can do.”
The NYC group’s ethos is already reverberating through up the Hudson River. Krystal Madison, The Witch of Sleepy Hollow joined the efforts almost before it Rev. Starr finished typing it. Psychics are like that.
“Witches are priests and priestesses of the Earth, and priests and priestesses of the people,” said during an earlier appearance on Magick Lab. “For centuries, we have served our communities in varying capacities; from helping a couple conceive a child to healing the sick. As servants, we have a responsibility to help not just our local communities but or national and international communities.
We are here. We have always been here. And we are here to help”.
The Festival of Witches and the Sleepy Hollow Black Hat Society have a long tradition of giving back to the community. They donated more than $2,500 worth of canned and non-perishable items to the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow Community Food Pantry. The Sleepy Hollow Black Hat Society is currently raising money for a “little boy in upstate New York who needs a heart replacement, and are collecting personal care items and snacks, as well as new, unused stuffed animals, coloring books and crayons for ‘Blessing Bags’ for those children and their families who have been displaced by the recent Hurricanes.”
Krystal asks that contributions be mailed to: Sleepy Hollow Black Hat Society 45 Beekman Avenue Suite # 8341 Sleepy Hollow, New York 10591

This group drove from the Colorado to Houston after Harvey, onto Florida after Irma, and now they’re on their way to PR. They have been literally in the water rescuing people, animals, and putting their own safety at risk to help strangers in need.”
